Job Description
Sony Depthsensing Solutions is looking for a Sensor Technical Leader to work with our group of talented IC design engineers, on next generation sensor designs and architectures in our Brussels location.
This leadership position is part of an advanced technology team which is enabling the next generation of image sensors. The successful candidate will bring his deep knowledge and proven experience in sensor design to drive innovation and productization. Your main focus will be on driving feasibility studies and defining chip architecture for next generation image sensors inside the IC Design Center.
Responsibilities
Your role will be twofold: firstly, by leading multi-competence engineers during the feasibility study of future projects during the exploration of new technologies and the assessment of their potential for productization. Secondly in being a technical reference during the productization phase, either by taking lead responsibilities inside the project organization or by coaching other lead members.
As Sensor Technical Leader, you will be responsible for the following matters:
- Feasibility study for next generation image sensors: definition of technology, assessment of risk and issues, competitivity, challenges, costs etc.
- Benchmarking of SDS technology with competition and with other Sony solutions.
- Fostering innovation for the next generation of products by bringing the teams together in generating new ideas at various stages of the design of an image sensor.
- Leading the architectural choices for the products of the design sensor: during the production phase, you lead the project team in the definition of the sensor architecture (technology, specifications, modes, building blocks), and you drive technically the team throughout the duration of the project to reach the target specifications. You support the teams in solving problems, you propose innovative solutions to improve the product competitivity and you bring your experience to ensure that the product is a success.
During the execution of your tasks, you will regularly follow-up and report status-updates to the IC design center manager.
Qualifications
- You have a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- PhD in relevant domain, or similar by experience, is an asset.
- You have more than 10 years’ experience in the IC design domain. Previous experience in Image Sensor industry with minimum 5 years in such a market is required.
- This position requires excellent communications skills: you have a strong command of English and you are able to communicate and work efficiently with various IC design teams (chiptop implementation, logic, pixel, verification etc).
- You have a strong understanding of image sensor at system level, including image quality, physical constraints at camera level, costs, optics, packaging, and reliability especially in the automotive field.
- You have a good understanding of semiconductors physics, CMOS fabrication process, device and implementation.
- You have a deep understanding of advanced pixel concepts, including readout schemes, rolling and global shutter modes, CIS technologies and SPADs.
- You have a deep understanding of advanced analog concepts, including blocks such as ADC, DAC, decoders, drivers, amplifiers, PLL, bandgap, voltage and current references.
- You are familiar with analog layout, with previous experience and the ability to analyze and debug in planar and FinFET technologies.
- You are familiar with digital design constraints and how sensor architectures impact digital constraints.
- You know well the image sensor industry and the research landscape in the field of SDS products.
- You can support your team through the silicon evaluation phase with analysis and debugging.
- You have a proven track record of achievement in the image sensor domain, including multiple tape-outs in recent technology nodes.
- You have experience and affinity working with external and internal technical teams, with the necessary tact and social skills.
- You have an analytical mind, a strong commitment to quality and attention to detail. You are able to work in team and take initiative to lead a project team, also in difficult and stressful conditions.
- You are goal-oriented, pragmatic and an innovative problem-solver.
- You are able to provide clear reporting, internally but also in interaction with external customers.
- You are willing to travel internationally if needed.
